DescriptionPewter porringer with an "Old English" lightened by eight apertures, supported from below by a triangle and wedge bracket. The bellied bowl has an everted rim and a raised boss surrounded by a recess at the bottom. Incised lines encircle the foot and the recess of the bowl. Only traces of the linen mark remain on the inside of the bowl where the handle meets it.
Label TextPopular as a multi-purpose vessel for food and drink alike, pewter porringers were first made in America around the turn of the 18th century. They were still being made in New England until the 1830s.
