DescriptionWash Basin: short foot ring supports slightly flared bowl with out-turned ruffled rim; the opaque white tin-glaze undecorated on the exterior; the interior painted with a blue radiating border on the ruffled edge above concentric blue lines; the sides of the interior painted with a blue border of intersecting arcs between bands of blue and above two concentric blue lines; the well painted in blue with a central bullseye motif with radiating feathered fronds separated by dots of blue all within three concentric blue lines.
Label TextThe utilitarian nature of ceramic wares associated with hygiene makes the objects rare above ground survivals. This small wash basin is just such an object and closely relates to archaeological evidence found in Williamsburg.
