DescriptionWomen's hooded cloak of wool, tabby weave, dyed Turkey-red, often called a "cardinal" due to its color. Binding of silk taffeta ribbon running along the outside of hood and cloak opening. Cloak would have fastened with ribbed silk ties as neck closures fastened to either side of the cloak opening just below the hood. The full ties are no longer attahced to the cloak although small remains of the ties remain attached to the garment. The cloak is piece constructed with double running stitch and 1/8" seams. Folds of the hood crown sewed together in 3/4" pleats to give fan effect at back. The collar and the hood are attached to the cloak by a neck band 2" wide. The bottom edges of the cloak have been left cut and unfinished.
