DescriptionShallow plate with narrow rim and no foot. Bluish tin glaze decorated in polychrome with a peacock in a landscape. Peacock outlined in blue and detailed in red; blue head and wings, yellow body and tail, blue ground and manganese-sponged shrubbery.Label TextFragments of delft plates painted with a peacock in the same colors seen on this intact example have been excavated in Williamsburg at the Coke-Garrett House (27AA.0273). Sherds of a plate of this design but executed in blue were found at Wetherburn's Tavern (9NA.1529).
