DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain sugar bowl/basin with conforming foot. The lobed bowl has molded decoration in relief resembling a tea-plant. Four branches with flowers start from the base and spiral upward counter clockwise to the rim of the bowl. The domed lid also has molded decoration in relief resembling a tea-plant. The four branches with flowers radiate from the knop and spiral clockwise to the lobed rim. No colored enamels have been applied.Label TextSeveral other unmarked examples of this basin and cover have survived. Faint lines on some of the lobes indicate that the dish was made in four-part mold. The three-dimensional quality of several of the flowers and their placement over the mold lines suggest that at least some of them were applied.
