DescriptionCream pot: Pear- or baluster-shaped body with everted spout and scrolled rim; cast double-scrolled handle with slight grip attached at rim and to lower part of body; body supported on three cast and applied scrolled legs with circular attachments to body and trifid feet.
Label TextThree short cabriole legs were applied to cream pots from about 1725. This example is of standard midcentury conformation with an elongated pear shaped body with a flaring serrated rim, broad pouring lip, and slender double-scroll handle. A similar cream pot of 1755/56 by an unidentified London maker ("I' W" with a mullet above and a rosette below) is also in the Colonial Williamsburg collection (accession 1964-456).
