DescriptionSplat-back side chair with concave yoke center top of crest flanked by flat elements curving outward to form corner of crest and continuing downward to form stiles that flare outward from top to bottom and curve inward from front to back; vase-shaped splat; side rails of seat flare outward from back to front with quarter circle downward curve to bottom at each end; bottom of front rail shaped in series of curves; cabriole front leg with a bracket at each side and terminating in flat pad feet; blocked near legs at area of seat and feet with cylindrical central element; blocked and turned side stretchers; bulbous turned medial stretcher and identical back stretcher.Markings"XI" or (IX) cut into front seat rail and slip seat frame; "V" cut into top and bottom of left front corner block.
