DescriptionThis print suggest that Holland should consider war with England. The numbered figures are explained in the text at the bottom.

(1) Father Time turns a wheel of fortune upon which four figures attempt to stay in balance. England, on the right, is engaged in a fight with America, and France appears dangerously close to falling from the wheel. To the left, Spain is watching the struggle without offering help.

(2 and 3) Two Dutchmen stand beside the wheel, one dressed as a sailor demands action to restore Holland's favorable trade position. The statesman pleads for restraint.

(4) A monk points across the ocean to the burning city of London, also observed by (5) a Protestant. Both lament the religious riots that have caused such distress in England.
