DescriptionFigure of a standing ram with curled horns. Most of his body is covered with curly "cole slaw" light-gray clay, but his face, feet, horns, and tail are smooth, darker clay. Incised eyes. "Beard" hangs away from body and rejoins it under the chin.
Label TextBilly Ray Hussey embraces the vernacular pottery tradition of the Seagrove region in which he grew. He seeks out historical prototypes for his pieces and uses indigenous technology and materials, including local clay. Over the years, Hussey has experimented with salt and ash glazes as well as different types of kilns and firing techniques.
