DescriptionGlobular-bodied bottle with tall cylindrical neck, flared lip, and molded base. Bluish tin glaze and powdered turquoise-blue ground with shaped reserves decorated with blue floral sprays.
Label TextThe unsuccessful colored glaze on this bottle, which bubbled and ran in the firing, suggests that this piece was experimental. This surmise is reinforced by the fact that the only other recorded piece with the same or similar color, a dish (CWF accession 1988-229), is also of experimental quality. The dish is decorated in polychrome within the reserves and has slightly more yellow in the turquoise ground. Bottles of this shape are usually attributed to London.
