DescriptionYoung woman wearing white dress in high-waisted empire style with cap sleeves; low squared neckline. Blue eyes. Light brown hair worn lifted with tortoiseshell comb at back of crown; tendrils around face. Seated in red upholstered armchair, she faces viewer's right. Red drape at upper right corner. Grey-black background. Evidently the artist had originally intended for the girl to hold a flower in right hand in her lap; however, only the vague underdrawing is visible, and the flower was never executed.
