Label TextAlthough technically a form of tableware, pitchers were often made by stoneware manufacturers and fall in the category between table service and utility. Perhaps pitchers usually have some type of embellishment because they are versatile pieces. This squat example is particularly functional and was decorated with foliate designs in cobalt blue.
ProvenancePart of the AARFAC unaccessioned collection. Date and type of acquisition unknown. Been noted on old inventory lists since 1973.
