DescriptionThis quarter-circle fragment of striated green heavy taffeta has a brocaded design of large pink roses on vines entwined with self-colored vines. The large scale self-colored vines have cabbage roses, berries, and heart-shaped leaves. The design is somewhat echoed in the polychrome brocade, which has pink cabbage roses on vines of multiple shades of green with portions in burgundy and purple. The brocade also has pink, purple, and green berries, and green flowers that resemble clovers. Another, smaller vine connects the two repeats and has paisley-shaped berries and pink and purple bellflowers. The top and bottom edges are raw. The left and right edges are selvedges. The selvedge is ¼” wide with white warps in a balanced plain weave. From the outside in, there are four corded warps, then 14 thin warps making the plain weave. There are machine stitch lines along each edge.
