DescriptionAppearance - shaped crest rail outlined with C and S scrolls, central foliate and delicate ribbon carving; foliate carving on top of stiles ; stiles rounded on back above seat rails and splayed outward at top; pierced gothic splat; molded shoe; over-the-rail upholstery on trapezoidal seat; front cabriole legs with sharp knees and ball and claw feet; acanthus leaf carving on knees and knee blocks which also have punch work design; small ogee rear flankers between side seat rails and rear legs; rear legs taper toward each other, are raked back, rounded; and squared off at feet.

Construction - all elements mahogany except as noted; stiles and splat tenoned into crest rail; bottom of splat tenoned into rear seat rail; shoe nailed to rear seat rail around front of splat (several nails missing and holes filled in); all oak seat rails tenoened into legs; rear seat rail has mahogany veneer on back; original rear glue blocks nailed and glued to rear legs and glued to side seat rails (blocks and nails missing); horizontal grain beech brace blocks half dovetailed from above into side and front seat rails; two piece front and one piece side knee blocks glued onto glue blocks; two horizontal grain mahogany glue blocks stacked behind front and side knee blocks, top glue blocks screwed into front and side seat rails, bottom blocks glued to legs and top blocks; mahogany veneered rear beech flankers tenoned into rear legs and nailed to bottom of side seat rails.
Markings"IIII" chiseled into bottom of right seat rail; stickers -- inside front seat rail "Davidstock Dining Room # 5, R.W. Peck," inside right front knee block "II" also 'LOT NO. A0874 008" and 'Williamsburg".
