DescriptionWoman's cap of white cotton woven with paired heavy threads crossing to form self-color check. Ruffles of plain semi-sheer white cotton edged with linen bobbin lace frame the face and continue on the rounded lappets that extend over the ears. Back of cap is gathered into a band at the lower crown area, edged with another ruffle.
ProvenanceFound in 1987 in the costume room of the First Congregational Church, Danbury, Ct., where an active theater group had been using the room; sold in church bazaar in November of 1987.
