DescriptionCovered chocolate cup with accompanying saucer with blue-gray glaze over white body. The foot rings small and triangular in form, with interiors wiped of glaze. The cup of ogee form with shaped edge, with two handles in the so-called "serpent scroll-neck form." The cover of ogee form, with scalloped edge and flower-form finial. The saucer of ogee form with scalloped edge. Gros Bleu (or dark blue) ground with large round reserve to saucer, two oval reserves to body of cup, and a round reserve, per se, to the cover comprising the finial and the upper portion of the ogee. The reserves painted with similar sprays of flowers in rust, pink, navy, mauve, and gilt. The flowers including stylized anemones, poppies, primroses, lilies, roses, and glories. The flower finial un-painted, but with the individually-modelled petals accented with gilt. The edges of the cover and the saucer trimmed in gilt dentil. The painting very much in the style of James Giles, but probably executed in the style of his workshop rather than at his workshop.
