Label TextThe fireman's feet may have been lost to the elements, then the remnants cut off with the figure and pole affixed to the present base, which shows no sign of having been affixed to another surface, such as the exterior of a building. Perhaps after the sculpture no longer fulfilled its original purpose, it was preserved as an interior ornament.
