DescriptionSilver shoe buckle set with colorless pastes, one of pair in case:

Arched, elliptical, silver frame set with large colorless pastes and with rectangular, gilded band on interior of frame; silver fluke and chape straight double prong.

Label TextBoth men and women wore shoe buckles to secure footwear. Steel or base metals were common, but wealthy gentlemen and ladies donned examples made of silver or set with paste stones.
