Label TextPrior Park was the Palladian seat of prominent Bath resident Ralph Allen Esq. who served as the Mayor of Bath and as a Member of Parliament for Bath. According to the inscription at the lower left-corner, this print was "Drawn from M.r Allens Road 1750." The road depicted featured a rail road built by Allen to transport cream-colored Bath stone from his mines on Combe Down.
