DescriptionRectangular fragment of a quilted petticoat, blue-green silk satin, quilted to cream white glazed worsted tabby, with thin wool batting. Quilted with blue silk thread in running stitches, in an all-over scrolling floral design. Hemmed at top; raw edges on two long sides; narrow silk ribbon hem tape binding bottom edge.

This fragment of a satin petticoat is backed with the characteristic glazed or pressed wool backing used on many professionally made English quilted petticoats. The quilting is worked with 10 silk running stitches per inch.
