DescriptionObverse - Bust of Jefferson to left, in high-collared coat with double-breasted waistcoat. Hair queued & bound with ribbon.

Reverse - Two hands clasping in center - from the left, that of an American soldier with a buttoned & laced cuff and from the right, that of a native American wearing a metal bracelet embellished with and eagle on a cloud. Above, a peace pipe crossed with a tomahawk.
Label TextJefferson Indian Peace Medals were produced following the Louisiana Purchase. They were carried on expeditions to be given as a sign of friendship between America and various Native Americans.
