DescriptionPewter (Britannia metal) cream pot of boat shape with ball feet, strap handle and bright cut decoration to the sides.
Label TextThis cream jug (right) is a representative piece of early nineteenth-century Britannia metal. Its body is constructed from three pieces of sheet metal: a pair of side panels and a base plate. The body is fitted with a U-shaped wire at the rim and a handle with squared shoulders and a molded face. The body is supported on four ball feet. The center of each side is engraved with foliate sprigs that stop before the vertical seams below the spout and behind the handle and indicate that the decoration was executed before the assembly of the object.
