Label TextThis firm consisted of a partnership between Preston Edgar I and James Curtis, both of Bristol. They had previously been partners with Robert Bush in the firm of Robert Bush & Co., dissolved in 1793. Edgar, Curtis & Co. began in that year, for, according to Cotterell, it is mentioned in the Matthew's First Bristol Directory of 1793/94, as well as in the directory of 1801. The figure of Neptune appropriately appears in the mark of this firm that sent cargoes of its product by ship to America. Such imported mugs provided models for American artisans.
