DescriptionWhite cotton sleeveless and collarless waistcoat with full skirts. Fronts and skirts embellished with cord quilting and embroidery in white linen drawn work and French knots in a design of floral scrolls and curling leaves. The pocket flaps are decorative, without functional pockets beneath. Pocket flaps have similar quilting, but are not original to waistcoat. 11 circular buttons of stitching on steel wire frames, so-called "thread buttons". Lined with white linen tabby. Back of twill linen-cotton textile usually called "fustian."Construction History:
