One of a pair of salt spoons with a shell bowl.
Label:The cartouche and the feather-edged borders of the wrought handles of this pair are chased. The shell bowls and the shoulders at the base of the handles are cast. A similar pair of salt spoons by Hester Bateman is illustrated in David S. Shure, Hester Bateman, Queen of English Silversmiths (London: W. H. Allen, 1959), pl. XXXIX.
