Woman's collapsible bonnet of greenish-gold silk on 15-reed frame. Ruffle facing, neck shield, and tie-strings of the same material. Fragment of ribbon trimming on front.

Calash bonnets, named after a carriage with collapsible hood, were in fashion in the eighteenth century, especially during the 1770s and 1780s; the distinctive bonnets returned to fashion in the 1820s and 1830s.
