Woman's cap of white cotton woven with paired heavy threads crossing to form self-color check. Ruffles of plain semi-sheer white cotton edged with linen bobbin lace frame the face and continue on the rounded lappets that extend over the ears. Back of cap is gathered into a band at the lower crown area, edged with another ruffle.
Provenance:Found in 1987 in the costume room of the First Congregational Church, Danbury, Ct., where an active theater group had been using the room; sold in church bazaar in November of 1987.
