Label:Wealthy sponsors of natural history sought exotic specimens of plants and animals from correspondents all over the world and frequently hired knowledgeable artists to provide them with drawings. This watercolor is the first of fifty-five pages from an album of butterflies, moths, and other insects drawn early in the eighteenth century.
