Cat and Bird Crank Toy
OH: 5 1/2" x OW: 2" x OD:4 1/2"
Acc. No. 1971-863
The toy has a bird in a cage with a cat on the outside reaching towards. The figures are mounted on a hollow rectangular box painted blue with three gold 4-point stars inside a gold border design on the sides of the box. The cat is painted white with black spots and the bird is blue. The red cage is formed by nine spindles and a shaped roof with a knob finial. On top of the roof is painted a floral design. The bird sits on a vertical perch which comes up from a hole in the base. When the wire crank is turned, the perch with the bird on it moves up and down.
Provenance:A price tag found on the object indicates that it sold at some point for $15.00, probably to Mrs. Tomlinson. "1947" is penciled on the bottom and probably indicates the year of purchase.
