DescriptionMan's or boy's knee breeches of natural-color plain-woven cotton warp and weft. Front opens with buttoned waistband and buttoned fall front. Fall has center button, as well as button at each corner. Two pockets. Slim legs ending at knees with knee bands (intended for buckles) and opening with four buttons on each leg. Full rear seat gathered to adjustable waistband laced at center back. All buttons are wooden, covered with cotton fabric.

3. Date Unknown- Couching has been taken onto support patches or tapes.
4. Date Unknown- ironed repair on left leg
5. Date Unknown- repair on back center seam
ProvenanceStated to have been Revolutionary War (private's) uniform worn by a member of the Askew or Pruden families of Isle of Wight or Goochland County. See memorandum to Mrs. Duncan from Mary Goodwin on Pruden and Askew family research, in object folder.
