DescriptionWoman's calash or collapsible bonnet of reddish brown light-weight silk faded from maroon. Bonnet is fashioned with wire ribs stitched into the silk alternately in top/bottom arrangement to create a flat-folding bonnet commonly called a calash. The front around the face and the neck edge are trimmed with ruched and flounced decoration of the same material. The crown is stiffened with sized cotton and is unlined. Tie ribbons are mostly missing.
