DescriptionTeapot or sauceboat stand bearing the crest of D'Aguilar on the rim, with an annulet for a 5th son; a Sephardic Jewish family, London merchants and Jamaica sugar planters. Probably for Solomon, 5th son of Don Diego de Aguilar, a Baron of the Holy Roman Empire, to whom arms were granted in 1756 (see CAP II, p. 535).Label TextDecorated with the crest for the D’Aguilar family, the stand is an object from just one of several armorial services made for the Sephardic Jewish D’Aguilar family who were London merchants and sugar planters. Most likely it was owned by Solomon, the fifth son of Don Diego D’Aguilar.
