DescriptionEarring: emerald in gold setting with repousse C-scrolls; above, silvered gold spray with smaller emerald and 2 small diamonds; hinged gold loop.Markings"G" in lozenge stamped inside loop, clearer on one earring than the other.
ProvenanceThe provenance for these earrings is unclear. It may be that they were made in Spain, because that country controlled the largest supply of emeralds and gold from South America. They have also been attributed to France or Austria.
