DescriptionThis is a rectangular pillow cover of printed patchwork cotton in a faux pineapple log cabin pattern. The colors are brown, yellow, cream, blue, and red in small florals and geometric prints with faux red sashing on sides. It is constructed with side seams and an end seam. There is an opening at one end. The pillow cover features the same fabric on both sides, and is sewn in such a way to frame one complete octagon of the pineapple log cabin print on each side. It is machine stitched.
Label TextFrom a distance, this pillow cover looks as if it is made of patchwork, with small printed pieces of cotton cut and sewn together. The pillow cover is actually made of fabric meant to look like patchwork. The cloth resembles a kind of patchwork called "Log Cabin," in a variation called "Pineapple." The faux patchwork fabric illustrates just how popular quilt making was in the 1880s.
