DescriptionA pair of gold cuff links or sleeve buttons, each individual link composed of two slightly domed oval disks each with a compressed oval shank soldered to center of reverse; disks joined to one another by an ovoid link of round wire. Front of each disk engraved with a bird facing left, head bowed, and wings raised, within a bright cut border.Label TextOval gold cuff links or sleeve buttons were popular in both England and America in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. This unmarked pair is said to have been owned by Dr. Benjamin Rush of Philadelphia
