DescriptionThis is a long rectangular furniture scarf consisting of isolated cross-stitched motifs worked in shades of blue, green, grey, brown, yellow, red, orange, white, and peach on a natural-color white cotton ground. Motifs include: candlesticks (4); baskets of fruit/flowers (8); stylized images of Colonial man (2); African-American colonial woman churning butter (2); horse-drawn carriage with coachman and footman (2); Colonial lady at Palace gate; Colonial woman standing at well; four groups of flowers; Governor's Palace, and Capitol. At top and bottom of scarf is the cross-stitched inscription: "COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG." The motifs are enclosed in an inner border of red cross stitches and an outer border of blue cross stiches.
