DescriptionSilver tablespoon with an upturned Hanoverian pattern handle, a long midrib, and an oval bowl with a drop and long rattail.Label TextPhilip Syng Sr. was born in Cork, Ireland in 1676 and immigrated to Annapolis, Maryland in 1714. By 1719 he was working in Philadelphia, only to return to Annapolis in 1724, where he died in 1739. Three of his sons, Philip, Jr., John, and Daniel became silversmiths.
InscribedEngraved “P/WE” in block letters on back of handle end.
MarkingsMarked twice with “PS” in relief within a heart-shaped cartouche on the back of the stem.
