DescriptionTablespoon with a downturned, round-end handle with a thickened tip, which meets an egg-shaped bowl with a rounded drop set with a similarly thickened tip.Label TextJoseph Richardson, Jr., was born 1752 in Philadelphia to silversmith Joseph Richardson, Sr., whom he succeed in 1777 alongside his brother Nathaniel. After the partnership dissolved in 1790 Joseph Jr. worked alone, and served as the second Assayer of the United States Mint from 1795 to 1830. Richardson died in Philadelphia in 1831. His account book covering the years 1769-1831 is now at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
