DescriptionHandless teacup and saucer decorated ensuite with a swag Sevres-style border painted in peach, black and gold; a central scene on the saucer and the exterior of the cup painted in grisaille with a four-story house within a walled parameter an ancillary buildings.Label TextThe border pattern on this cup and saucer closely mimics the appearance of French porcelain popular in the period. Although the house or estate depicted is currently unknown, Chinese porcelain services featuring the same border pattern and a central roundel featuring a house were popular in Philadelphia and New York in the first quarter of the 19th century.
