DescriptionA brass shoe buckle, rectangular and arched in shape with incised line decoration with dots and wavy lines on the top surface. The chapes are unusually made from a copy alloy (brass) as well.Label TextMen and women fashionably wore shoe buckles from about the 1660s to the end of the 18th century. This buckle dates to the 3rd quarter of the 18th century and descended through the Taurman Family of Goochland/Henrico Counties and Richmond, Virginia. This may have belonged to the great grandfather of the donor Thomas Taurman (1757-1810).
