DescriptionThis is a small rectangular sampler worked in shades of green, brown, and gold on a natural color linen ground. The sampler consists of two large birds facing each other in the top half with three hearts flanked by two teapots. Foral sprigs flank the birds, and a two-handled basket of fruit/flowers is between them. Below the birds are two "Williamsburg" fruit trees and a stag. The signature line is in the bottom portion of the sampler; it reads: "Eliza Waller Her Work / Done in the Eighth Year / Of Her Age October The 9 / 1798." The sampler is enclosed on all four sides Ina strawberry vine border. It is In a modern frame and under glass.Stitches: Cross over 1 and 2; Queen
