DescriptionFive-tiered vase with domed cover and cylindrical foot ring: top three tiers with straight sides and collars fit into piece below; bottom piece globular in form with a ring around its middle. Holes for flowers on the top rim each piece. Blue tin glaze decorated in blue with stylized Chinese floral patterns; the base of each section painted with the numeral "3".Label TextSince each section of this vase has a different decoration, one might conclude that the pieces were originally individual entities were it not for the presence of the same numeral on each piece. Three similar recorded vases survive only in partial form. A vase in the Glaisher collection and one formerly in the Lipski collection consist only of the bowl and two of the upper sections. An example in the Bristol Museum has the bowl and one other section.
The London attribution is based on the decoration.
Inscribed"3" painted in blue on the base of each segment.
