DescriptionShallow bowl shaped dish with everted rim and raised foot ring. Bluish tin glaze decorated on the front in polychrome: in the well, a geometric-shaped rock and flowering branches surrounded by a complex oriental leaf border; inside the rim, another leaf band; on the rim, a band of cloud scrolls. Predominant color is blue, with dark mixed green and touches of red. On the back in blue, alternating asterisks and double slashes on the rim; an 8 on the base.Label TextThe deep shape of this dish is unusual. The same decoration is found on several other plates and rimmed dishes. A plate dated 1724, like this dish, has a numeral 8 on the back. A dish in the Bristol Museum has an X on the back, and one in the Warren Collection has a 10. The series of marks on the reverse rim vary from piece to piece.
