DescriptionStraight-sided mug of tankard: cylindrical body with plain looped strap handle. White ground; rim accented with 3/4" band of trellis diaper in red and blue, with reserves containing flower heads; opposite the handle is an underglaze blue cartouche ornamented with flowers in red, yellow, green, and purple and enclosing a quatrain in black that reads: "Fill your glases (sic) banish grief / All worldly cares dispise (sic) / Sorrows ne'er will bring relief / Joys from drinking will arise." Painted in black under handle: " Thos. Pool 1785". At base of interior a frog molded in full relief attached to wall and painted brown.Inscribed"Thos. Pool 1785" under handle.
