DescriptionPlate with 5 lobed 1 3/8" smooth rim. Reverse bead hammered booge.Label TextThis set of plates and a second set (1958-20, 1-12) were made by the same maker for the same family. They present two different options in plates and dishes of fancy rim type. This set has a shaped face to the rims with short creases at intervals and unmounted edges. The other set has rims with flat faces and applied moldings at the edges.
InscribedUnidentified crest of a falcon with wings extended and inverted on a wreath bar engraved on the face of each rim.
MarkingsTouch mark a rose with palm fronds to either side and crossing below with ":IONASW:/E:SONNANT/1669" within curved reserves above and " DURAND " within a curved reserve below on underside of each rim (London Touch Plate II, 557; Cotterell 1475).
