DescriptionBroad cylindrical mug with flared molded base and strap-loop handle with a thumb rest at top and a scroll base terminal. White tine glaze decorated in blue with a fabulous landscape scene--harlequins riding a goat and a boar, dogs chasing a fox with a goose in its mouth, and a witch and musicians in the background. On the thumb rest, the inscription "I C M / 1729."Label TextThe design source and the story or stories depicted on this delft mug have not been identified. The Italian comedy figures on one side have no known relation to the dogs and fox on the other, although they appear as one long picture.
