DescriptionA plain white figure of a seated Chinese man, smiling expression, body except for chest and stomach, draped in flowing robes. His right hand resting on his raised right knee, his left hand holding what appears to be a peach.Triangle period.
Label TextThe figure of Pu-tai Ho-shang is probably the least rare of the Triangle-period Chelsea figures. It is modeled after, or adapted from, one of the many blanc de chine figures of Pu-tai, the Buddhist holy man of about 900 B.C., who is usually depicted with his large stomach bared and a broad smile on his face.
