DescriptionChest of drawers with plain rectangular top with cross-banded veneer on front and side edges. Front with four banks of drawers: uppermost row greatest in height; consists of long drawers flanked by two small (but tall) drawers with divisions inside for wine bottles. Central drawer with crotch mahogany panel in center, with indented corners. Side drawers plain (no banding). Below are 3 rows of long drawers, also plain, graduated in size. Each drawer with plain turned wooden knobs; keyhole with thread escutcheon in center of each drawer as well, with exception of wine drawers (locked by spring lock form below). Scalloped skirt, modified French Hepplewhite feet (no flare-out)
MarkingsRound label, glued to inside of top right drawer, printed "Albany No"; after No is inked the number 614. Label probably not comtemporary with date of manufacture.
ProvenanceA household inventory, apparently written by Mrs. Charles P Sanders II, c 1927 states that the mahogany bureau with large drawer & wine drawers on each side, belonged to the Toll family forefathers of Anna Lee Sanders (See Folder)
