DescriptionChina press, in two sections; upper section has flat top with short cove molding; straight sides; pair of doors in front side, each door with eight panes divide by molded mullions; doors hinged on outside with large wrought iron "H" hinges; pair of keyhole escutcheons at center of inside edge of each door; left escutcheon is false while right conceals replacement lock; inside contains four shelves; bottom shelf has molded front edge, three drawers of equal size arranged in a row below bottom shelf; applied molding around bottom of upper section which sits flat on top of lower section and is secured by a large pair of wrought iron hooks and eyes attached to back side of press; lower section has straight sides; pair of drawers with molded edge and single bail brass handle and brass escutcheon plate at center; long, narrow slides with molded front edge above a pair of doors hinged at sides with replacement brass "H" hinges brass escutcheon plate on right door; doors open to reveal a single shelf (one shelf missing); narrow base molding above four shaped bracket feet.ProvenanceOriginally owned by the Malone family of Lewisburg (Louisburg), North Carolina.
