DescriptionRectangular yellow pine chest with projecting dowel at top rear corner of sides (extension of backboard); missing lid; turned round maple feet on square block with slightly chamfered corners.Chest is of nailed construction. Maple feet continue up inside the case as structural corner blocks into which the chest front, sides, and back are nailed. The inner corners of the extensions of the legs above the level of the feet are cut off, creating triangular corners above the feet on which the chest bottom board sits. The bottom board is nailed into place from the chest front, back and sides into the edges of the bottom board. The top of the leg extensions are chamfered. The legs are maple. Outer corners of chest are lightly chamfered.
A yellow pine shim is nailed inside the back at the proper left top corner, extending between the joint of the chest back and side.
